Cartooning a face

Cartooning a face

I tried to apply the techniques I explained in this Article to cartoonize the picture of my friend Natalia.
Here is the final result:

Despite the long-ish experience I have in pencil drawing, I must admit that I am not that great in drawing cartoons, it could be a matter of habit, or maybe a specialization.. But it is not gonna be a long time till I master it, I already got better than last time I cartooned Tylor Swift.
Let me remind you of the basics if you want to turn a face into a cartoon:
Make the head bigger than the rest of the body
The forehead should occupy around half of the face
The eyes are and eyebrows are big but similar to the original ones (you can still draw it in a manga style, even if it's semi-realistic cartoon, the main goal is to look cute)
Nose and mouth are smaller compared to how they are in the real face but keep the similarities.
The cheeks are chubby and the jaw line is smaller
the hair looks almost the same with little cartoonish touches here and there.
same accessories, in this case, just the necklace and shirt.
My friend Natalia really broke one of my records, I almost don't draw anymore I rarely do now, and in all my life I have always had the habit of drawing every person only once, you should actually feel lucky that I decided to draw you in the first place, I have people that are literally begging me to draw them and they have been waiting for years.. it's not the case with Natalia, I drew her not only once but twice and this is actually the third time. I have to explanations except that I love her, she's one of my best friends and also her pretty face and blue eyes are very inspiring.
I have used my set of fancy Brevillier Cretacolor Pencils to draw this cartoon face, 3 pencils to be precise, 2h, 2b and 9b which is the darker one for the darkest areas. the usual paper blending stick but you can use any tiny piece of paper or even your pinky finger but beware to clean it right away or it will mess with your drawing. I have already made a review of the Brevillier Cretacolor Pencils that you can watch here in case you interested in buying new pencils, they are amazing. If you prefer using colorful pencils you may check out my review about Faber Castel here
I did not make a speed drawing video for this one, and I don't think I will keep making speed drawing video, unless it's of a celebrity, simply because people are not interested in them any more, nobody watches those kind of videos so why bother.
Thank you for reading and don't hesitate to check my other drawings and tutorials
