Pencil Portrait Drawing

Pencil Portrait Drawing

And back to drawing again.. I always say this year I will draw more but end up getting busy doing other stuff :( . Anyway, this time I forced myself to draw by creating a competition.. my facebook page reached over 2000 likes YAAAAYY and to celebrate this achievement I decided to offer a free portrait to someone, I decided to post a competition in a facebook group that I joined a year ago, and draw the winner.. the members of the group who wanted a free portrait should post their best pictures in the comment section and the comment that gets liked the most would be the winner... it lasted about 48 hours and this picture above got more likes and reactions than all the others..
even though that was about three weeks ago I only finished drawing this portrait few days ago.. It was not easy I must say.. But I like the outcome. The challenge in this portrait was the hair, the eyes and the lips, all of them contained many details, that is why I spent why too much time on drawing the eyes, it is not something to mess with and any error would affect negatively to the whole portrait, eyes are extremely important in a drawing, it is what people see first and what they see most. they give life to the drawing and reveal its personality.. and also reveal the style of the artist.
It does not mean that other features are less important, of course everything is important but eyes are top priority, maybe just for me, maybe other artists have different perception.
It does not also mean that it would be perfect.. I am not a copy mashine or a camera :) so there will always be mistakes and imperfections in my drawings, and that is part of my identity, it's the way of drawing and the imperfection that creates the identity of an artist.. and you can clearly see that in the artwork of the great painters.
I unfortunately didn't make a video for this pencil drawing artwork, except a short one that I posted on my instagram, it is not easy to create videos for every drawing plus I noticed that most of my viewers are not interested in watching speed drawing videos unless I am drawing a celebrity or unless it is a tutorial..
As usual, I used the same set of pencils that I usually use, 2h 2b and 9b for the darkest areas.. I didn't use the eraser at al this time which was great, and did the blending by my usual paper blending stick and sometimes my fingers.
The girl in the drawing is also a friend of mine, she lives in Marrakech, and she works as a teacher.. She loved the drawing and was very happy about it.

Hope you like this portrait drawing! stay tuned, more portraits and other stuff coming soon.. But it will be the last time I make a competition like that.. Or at least not untill my page reaches 10000 likes.
Thank you!
